Please join us for a candid look at child sexual abuse in our community. Our guest speaker will be author, attorney and abuse prevention advocate Rachael Denhollander, the first to publicly raise her voice against former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar.
According to the CDC, about one in four girls and one in thirteen boys in the United States experience child sexual abuse. Abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions, and at all levels of education. Still, a majority of abuse is preventable through learning and awareness.
This event, for teens and up, is intended to bring attention to abuse in our community, look at the link between abuse and mental health challenges, and encourage people to feel comfortable seeking help and support if needed.
Be aware, be empowered and be ready to advocate for the children of our community. After the talk, you’re invited to stay and discuss this topic in smaller groups, purchase Rachael’s autobiography and have her sign it, and enjoy kosher refreshments.
