Scholar-in-Residence Shabbat with Miriam Anzovin: Jewish Learning as Jewish Identity

Join us for Kabbalat Shabbat led by Rabbi Ariana Silverman, Rabbi Yoni Dahlen
and Rabbi Jeff Stombaugh, followed by a Kosher vegetarian dinner and Miriam’s
session, “Jewish learning as Jewish identity.” In this session, Miriam will
speak openly about how her life experiences as a formerly Orthodox woman, and
now secular Jew, led her to deep emotional engagement with Jewish text study.
She will discuss her spiritual journey, Daf Yomi, the genesis of her viral
TikTok videos, and being a “Talmud Influencer” in the public eye.
Questions/discussions with the audience are key elements of this program.

Miriam Anzovin is the creator of the “Daf Reactions” and “Jewish Lore
Reactions” video series on social media. She shares her authentic reactions to
Jewish learning, with commentary both heartfelt and comedic, putting ancient
discourse in direct communication with modern internet culture. Miriam’s work
invites others to connect with Jewish teachings in ways that resonate
personally with them.
