Adult Education with Rabbi Shalom Kantor

Join Rabbi Shalom Kantor on ZOOM as he explores Jewish Self Defense. While the
Jewish people are always praying for and seeking peace – Judaism is not a
pacifist religion.
This winter we will embark to understand “What does it mean for a peace
seeking – justice loving people must stand up to defend themselves on the
battlefield?” Through this course of study we will examine questions such as:
· When are we ALLOWED to go to war?
· When are we OBLIGATED to go to war?
· Does it change if we are in the land of Israel or in the diaspora?
· How do we define “the enemy”?
· How are we allowed to act on the battlefield in the midst of war –
when the most animalistic urges and tendencies can arise in even the calmest
of our people?
While each session will be a unique session addressing a specific topic –
throughout the course we will build a picture of what it means for us, Am
Yisrael, to defend our selves in the “rough neighborhood” we seem to find
ourselves in.
