Join The Well, Adat Shalom Synagogue, and Scholar & Artist in Residence Ruben
Shimonov as we dive into the rich visual worlds of Hebrew, Arabic, and Persian
calligraphy.
We’ll begin with a wine and dessert reception and Sephardic-inspired Havdallah
ceremony and then jump into Ruben’s journey with creating multilingual
calligraphy. After exploring the historical, spiritual, linguistic, and
artistic parallels between the languages, we’ll put pen (or brush!) to paper
for ourselves. Through this hands-on artistic calligraphy workshop, we’ll work
together to create a collaborative group art piece, as well as individual
pieces to take home at the end of the night. No art experience or skills
required!
This event is geared toward young adults ages 21-40. Due to the generosity of
donors, subsidized tickets are available at $10 per person. Each ticket
includes wine, dessert nosh, non-alcoholic beverages, and all the supplies
needed to create your own artistic calligraphy masterpiece.
