Explore the profound impact of Jewish culture, identity and history on
Broadway, America’s iconic theater district. Beginning with the early 20th
century, students will examine how Jewish immigrants influenced the
development of Broadway as a vibrant cultural landscape. The course will cover
the contributions of key figures, from songwriters and producers to actors and
playwrights, highlighting how their Jewish heritage shaped the themes,
narratives and musical styles of numerous productions.
