Maimonides is the most famous and influential rabbi of the Middle Ages. A
philosopher, halakhist, physician, and community leader, Maimonides continues
to be studied and debated more than 800 years after his death.
Using Micah Goodman’s book, _Maimonides and the Book that Changed Judaism:
Secrets of The Guide for the Perplexed_ as a foundation, we will explore
Maimonides’ thought – where he brings forward traditional Jewish beliefs and
where he arrives at unique interpretations which led to major controversy in
the Jewish world.
No charge for the class but each participant is asked to purchase a copy of
Micah Goodman’s book and to plan to read parts of the book in advance of
class. We will use our time reviewing the main concepts in The Guide which
Goodman brings out in his work. Contact Rabbi Rubenstein at
