Shabbaton Rabbi Michael Moskowitz Scholar-in-Residence Weekend

Join us for an exciting Shabbaton weekend as we present Rabbi Michael
Moskowitz from Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in New York. Rabbi Mike
Moskowitz is a deeply traditional and radically progressive advocate for trans
rights and a vocal ally for LGBTQ inclusivity.

Rabbi Moskowitz received three Ultra-Orthodox ordinations while learning in
the Mir in Jerusalem and in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. He is a David
Hartman Center Fellow and the author of Textual Activism. His writings can be

At CBST, Rabbi Moskowitz studies, writes, and teaches on trans issues and
Jewish sources, creating a body of work that is used as a resource all over
the world. He represents CBST, speaking and teaching on these topics in other
communities, including congregations, colleges, day schools, Jewish community
centers, interfaith events, and academic conferences.

* 6:00 p.m. Delicious Shabbat Dinner (Members $25; Not-yet Members $30; Kids: age 5-12 $12, age 0-4 Free)
* 6:45 p.m. Lecture with Rabbi Moskowitz: **My Journey as an Ultra-Orthodox Rabbi to Being an LGBTQ+ Ally and Activist**
* Children’s activities will be offered during the lecture.
**Saturday, January 27**
* 9:30 a.m. Rabbi Moskowitz will deliver the sermon during our regular Shabbat morning service: **Classic Sources and New Understandings: LGBTQ+ in the Texts**
* 12:00 p.m. Shabbat lunch immediately following services ((https://shaareyzedek.shulcloud.com/event/shabbat-lunch60.html))
* 12:45 p.m. Minchah Service
* 1:00 p.m. Shabbat afternoon lecture: **Allyship as a Spiritual Practice: America, Israel, and Intersectionality** Children’s activities will be offered during the lecture.
