Portraits of two icons–Sholom Aleichem and Theodore Bikel–are woven together in this engaging documentary. Oscar-nominee Theodore Bikel’s luminous career, with over 150 screen roles and countless stage productions, was the foremost interpreter of Sholom Aleichem’s work having played Tevye the Milkman 2,000+ times. Narrated by Alan Alda, the film combines Bikel’s charismatic storytelling and masterful performances with a broader exploration of Aleichem’s life and work, all shot through with humanity and Yiddishkeit! Includes presentation by Aimee Ginsburg Bikel, in celebration of the 100th birthday of her late husband.
