Tu B’Av Chocolate Making with Culinary Combo
August 3 @ 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Come celebrate Israel’s Day of Love with HMD, NextGen Detroit and Chabad of Greater Downtown Detroit by decorating anything and everything with chocolate! Jodi Polk of Culinary Combo will be joining us to make your everyday food look so good you won’t want to eat it (but taste so good that you’ll have no other choice). We will also learn some fun facts about the holiday Tu B’Av which is occurring on August 5th this year, and is celebrated throughout Israel with customs similar to Valentine’s Day.
We will provide supplies for making Oreo Truffles and chocolate covered pretzels (supplies include chocolate, Oreos, pretzels, and cream cheese)!
Register by Monday, July 25th to receive chocolate making supplies by mail.
A little bit about Culinary Combo
Warm, welcoming and made from scratch with the finest ingredients – this has always been the cornerstone of the Culinary Combo, established by Jodie and Jim Polk in 1989. The business expanded from catering and pastries to include gift baskets filled with fresh baked goods. In 2018, the Culinary Combo’s world was turned upside down when Jim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away one month later. With one half of the Culinary Combo gone, a new combo was born. Jessica Barris made the leap and left her job to partner with her mom, opening their first retail location Culinary Combo Bakery (CCB). Offering a range of baked goods, from a classic lemon bar to the outrageous muddy buddy cookie, CCB has the treats to satisfy every sweet tooth. Stop by their bakery for a goodie-on-the-go, assemble a custom order, or send one of their pastry-filled baskets as a delightful gift. No matter your choice, we provide a friendly, comforting, “cookies just out of the oven” experience.
