In a world of virulent antisemitism, how does tradition suggest that we
respond? With the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army chasing from
behind, the Israelites look to Moses for a response.
The prophet instructs the people to “stand by and witness the deliverance,
which the Eternal your God will work for you today.”
God has other ideas, however. “What are you crying out to me for?” God
demands. “Tell the Children of Israel to get moving!”
In every generation, the Jewish people confronts affliction.
When we do “stand by” and rely on God’s power to intervene and when do “get
moving” on our own?
Join Rabbi Aaron Starr for this timely conversation that you can then bring to
your own Passover seder.
