SUMMARY:2026 ORT and the City
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 ORT and the City fundraiser consists of dinner served via a variety of specialty food trucks\, cocktails\, whiskey tasting\, and an art auction featuring original works created by Detroit and Detroit-connected artists\, individually selected and sponsored by local art collectors. Each artist was asked to create a piece reflecting this year’s theme “Frame of Mind”. The art will be on display at the event; however\, the auction will be held online\, and you do not need to be at the event to bid and win. There is no fee to access the art auction online.

DESCRIPTION:Are you ready for Moshiach Energy?\n\nIt’s the term comedian Modi Rosenfeld (known simply as Modi) coined to describe the energy he feels in a room full of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life united in laughter.\n\nA staple of New York’s vibrant comedy scene and featured on HBO\, Comedy Central\, and E! Entertainment. Modi will be creating that energy at Jewish Family Service’s Spotlight event\, “An Evening of Laughter and Legacy\,” on Wednesday\, May 20 at 7pm at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills\n\nComedy and storytelling have long played a vital role in Jewish culture\, offering moments of levity in challenging times\, such as these. Modi has been voted one of the top 10 comedians in New York City by The Hollywood Reporter\, and his gift of balancing humor with heart in order to bring relief and connection is something you won’t want to miss.\n\nWhile Modi will be bringing the laughter\, Sandy Muskovitz Danto will be bringing the legacy as she is honored for her exceptional leadership and dedication to JFS\, the Detroit Jewish community\, Israel\, and beyond. Her passion\, compassion\, warmth\, and wisdom have impacted so many and created meaningful change that continues to inspire us all.\n\nProceeds from JFS’s Spotlight event will go toward meeting the greatest needs in the community and provide services to the fifteen thousand community members JFS helps each year in the areas of older adult services\, mental health and wellness\, and basic needs assistance.
