DESCRIPTION:Living with a loved one on the dementia journey can make us wonder about our own cognitive health. Mind University’s proven cognitive training classes are fun\, interactive and translate to real-world results. SUMMARY:Supporting Independence: How to help your loved one with dementia
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to best help your loved one living with dementia take part in daily activities\, how to provide the right amount of support and balance safety and independence while managing expectations. Presented by Debra Ross \nDebra Ross has served as a champion for quality dementia and healthcare education for almost three decades\, working as a volunteer educator and speaker for the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter and as facilitator of the Dementia Certification program in cooperation with Schoolcraft College since its inception in 2013. She facilitates a monthly support group for individuals diagnosed in the Early Stage of Dementia as well as care partners and care givers. She remains a certified Dementia Practitioner since 2005 and is the Lead Facilitator of the assisted living director certification and licensing program in cooperation with the state of Michigan. DESCRIPTION:Supported by the Downtown Synagogue and home-hosted by community members\,L’chaim Club is a new potluck Shabbat program for the 55+ crowd. We’ll gatherfor meaningful Shabbat ritual\, a delicious meal\, new (and rekindled!)connections\, and raise a glass together — l’chaim\, to life! Come as you areand leave nourished in body\, spirit\, and friendship. \nOur hosts\, Phil & Hilda Neuman\, will provide the main course and side dishes(vegetarian/dairy). Guests are encouraged to bring a **vegetarian** appetizeror dessert. Space is limited and registration is required. Registeredattendees will receive the address by email a few days before the dinner. \nWhile this program is supported by the Downtown Synagogue\, attendees do nothave to be members to participate.
