Join us for an exciting\, hands-onafternoon where ancient global craft meets modern Jewish tradition. \nIn this creative workshop\, we will explore the beautiful concept of _hiddurmitzvah_ —beautifying the commandment—by transforming raw fabric into anheirloom-quality\, one-of-a-kind Challah cover for your Shabbat table. \nUsing **Shibori** \, the exquisite Japanese art of resist-dyeing\, you willlearn how to fold\, bind\, twist\, and clamp fabric to unlock breathtakinggeometric patterns. As we dip our textiles into a rich\, organic indigo vat\,you’ll watch the magic of oxidation turn your fabric from bright green tobrilliant blue right before your eyes. \nWe will gather to chat about the rich history of indigo\, the significance ofthe Challah cover\, and the profound\, mystical symbolism of the color blue(_Tekhelet_) in Jewish tradition. \nYou’ll leave not just with a gorgeous piece of functional ritual art\, but witha deeper connection to the vibrant colors of our heritage. \nRegistration required. \n**Exhibit Sponsors** : \nManat Foundation\, Prudence Bernstein Trust\, Nancy Wanchik\, Esther Hankin \nFor more on exhibits and events\, visit[charachgallery.org](https://charachgallery.org/). \n**NEW! OPEN HOURS DURING EXHIBITS:** \n_Tuesday – 10 AM – 4 PM_ \n _Thursday – 11 AM – 7 PM_ \nSunday\, Wednesday by appointment \n*Visit the website or social media for up-to-date information & holiday closures. \nOrganized by: Janice Charach Gallery \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/16182

SUMMARY:Walk4Friendship 2026
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, thousands of people walk together through West Bloomfield to say something simple and powerful: Every person with special needs belongs\, contributes\, and deserves to thrive. \n\nThe Walk4Friendship funds programs from vocational training\, enrichment\, and social clubs for adults to programs\, camps\, and opportunities for kids and teens that make that mission real. Our fees only cover 10% of what it takes to run them. Walk4Friendship funds the rest. \nThis year’s goal: $1\,250\,000. And with you\, we’ll get there. \nJoin us Sunday\, August 30\, for a 1.7-mile community walk followed by a FREE family festival: bounce houses\, trampoline shows\, petting zoo\, foam party\, face painting\, bungee basketball\, and more!
