In the mid-twentieth century, siblings Seymour and Saul Kaplan owned one of Detroit's most popular butcher shops: Kaplan Bros. Kosher Meat Market. Its clever advertising campaign highlighted recipes featuring store ingredients. Join Seymour's son, Richard J. Kaplan, for a delightful look back at the store and the delicious recipes he compiled into a brand-new cookbook.
It's that time of year again! Join JHSM for our annual meeting where the highlight will be the presentation of this year’s Leonard N. Simons History-Maker Award! Established in 1991, the award honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the enrichment, conservation, knowledge, and dissemination of Michigan Jewish history. More information to come.
