EVERYDAY TREASURES: JEWISH DETROIT HEIRLOOM ROADSHOW

JHSM is celebrating the history of Hastings Street (Detroit’s first Jewish neighborhood) with an exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum, April-June 2024. To find objects for the exhibit we are once again hosting a FREE program called Everyday Treasures: Jewish Detroit Heirloom Roadshow. We are welcoming the community to bring historic items to be evaluated by experts and do some show-and-tell with our MC (Gail Offen)—or just to come and watch. We’ll also be highlighting a selection of items from the DHM’s collections. And Elayne Gross Photography will have a mobile photo studio setup to photograph objects! This year we have even more categories of experts to evaluate heirlooms and we want people to think outside the box. That family heirloom that has just been collecting dust just might be the one we have been searching for!
