story from Detroit’s past, shared by JHSM Executive Director Catherine
Cangany, PhD. In 1910 the price of Kosher meat soared. To feed their families
amid rapid inflation, fed-up Orthodox women took on the Gilded-Age robber
barons’ “Beef Trust” and won.
