DETROIT’S YIDDISH THEATER: A STAGE IN THE WILDERNESS with Nadav Pais-Greenapple

From its opening in 1927 to its closure in 1939, Littman’s People’s Theatre was Detroit’s premier destination for Yiddish-language theatrical performance and film. Managed and founded by Abraham Littman, the theater served as one of the most significant hubs of Yiddish-language cultural production and consumption in Detroit. Nadav Pais-Greenapple is a second-generation Jewish educator from Southfield. He has a bachelor’s degree in history and Jewish studies from Wayne State University. He currently teaches Jewish studies at Hillel Day School in Farmington Hills. This program will be presented both in person and on Zoom.
